Movies ';everyone should see'; is not necessarily the same thing as movies ';everyone has seen';, but off the top of my head....

60s: West Side Story, The Graduate, Midnight Cowboy, To Kill a Mockingbird, Lawrence of Arabia

70s: The Godfather, The Godfather II, Patton, Taxi Driver, Apocalypse Now

80s: Platoon, Rain Man, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Aliens, Terminator (decade of the blockbuster)

90s: Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Braveheart, The Silence of the Lambs, Titanic (love it or hate it--Everybody saw it)
I am really into 80's teen films even though I was a teen in the late 90's/early 00's!
